Hole 3: A soulful deep dive

This class will center around three distinct areas as it pertains to hole 3 on the diatonic harmonica: control as it relates to the bending available on this hole (more bends than any other hole on the diatonic), texture and technique centered around hole 3: distinct vibratos, warbles, dirty notes etc., and finally the important licks and phrasing that we can develop around hole 3. 

Hole 3, compared to other holes, is the biggest challenge and most difficult hole to manage for the majority of players. Due to the numerous available bends that must be managed, many people either avoid it, or are extremely dissatisfied with their inability to control the tone and pitch. Here's the thing, you cannot avoid this hole in the world of blues harmonica. It's the epicenter of soulful expression on the diatonic 10 hole harmonica and much of the language of blues harp centers around using this hole. 

In the first part of this class, we will work on various exercises to fine tune your bending. From there, we will explore some great texture that can be created via various techniques applied to hole 3 in 2nd position. Finally, we'll dive into a handful of crucial licks and ways to build your phrasing around hole 3. There is SO much to explore!
